My mother-in-law and sister-in-law celebrated the new year with my wife and I over a couple pizzas. My sister-in-law has a condition that limits her intake of acids, so I made up a white sauce made out of cannellini beans. For my personal, vegan pizza I did half tomato sauce and half white sauce with Field Roast Italian Sausage, black olives, green pepper, spinach, and a mix of Daiya and Tofutti mozzarella style cheese.
Vegan Hophead White Sauce
1 15oz Can Cannellini Beans
2 Cloves of Garlic
2 Teaspoons Italian Seasoning
1 Tablespoon Nutritional Yeast
2 Tablespoon of flour for thickening.Mix all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.
Kick it up with a little crushed red pepper.The white beans could be a good starting point for several things. I’m going to keep experimenting with it.
